Safe Routes To School Round 3

South Dublin County Council are proud to welcome the inclusion of the following schools in the National Transport Authority Safe Routes To School programme for 2025:

  • Glenasmole National School
  • Sacred Heart Senior National School
  • Scoil Áine Naofa
  • Scoil Naomh Áine
  • St. Thomas' Junior National School Lucan
  • St. Colmcille's Senior National School Knocklyon

The Safe Routes To School Programme (SRTS) has provided safe and sustainable infrastructure that promotes an active travel alternative to driving as the primary school. This programme commenced in 2021 and with this announcement the total schools that will benefit will rise to 414 across the country.

Some Key insights from the Safe Routes To School 2023 annual report include:

  • 26% increase of followers across social media sites displaying the increase in awareness of this initiative.
  • The Parent and Guardian Surveys have received more than 32,300 responses indicating a willingness to interact with this programme.

Recent Safe Routes To Schools infrastructure implemented by the Active Travel Team with South Dublin County Council include works done at St. Dominic's, St. Mark's and Scoil Maelruain.
